A cloudless plain blue sky
is like a flowerless garden.
~Terri Guillemets
Lucy Van Pelt: Aren’t the clouds beautiful? They look like big balls of cotton. I could just lie here all day and watch them drift by. If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the cloud’s formations. What do you think you see, Linus?
Linus Van Pelt: Well, those clouds up there look to me look like the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean.
[points up]
Linus Van Pelt: That cloud up there looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins, the famous painter and sculptor. And that group of clouds over there…
[points]
Linus Van Pelt: …gives me the impression of the Stoning of Stephen. I can see the Apostle Paul standing there to one side.
Lucy Van Pelt: Uh huh. That’s very good. What do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown: Well… I was going to say I saw a duckie and a horsie, but I changed my mind.
~ from Β A Boy Named Charlie Brown
This is probably my most favourite Charlie Brown conversation ever. I first read this as a comic in a paperback more years ago than seem possible, and while the rest of the book made me smile, this one made me chuckle. A duckie and a horsie, good old Charlie Brown. There is something very refreshing about his ordinary both-feet-on-the-ground perception of reality even as he is using his imagination, all these years later.
And the clouds at the top of the post? They and my camera happened to be under the same blue sky one sunny day. It is probably one of the fastest shutter speeds I have ever used. π
Having the blues can be positively uplifting. Not convinced? Feel free to check out any of the following:

Disclaimer: These moments are from my first summer with a digital camera. While the quality of some images is less than ideal, I think you will probably agree that the overall mood is still something to smile about. Go blue! Enjoy!
Blog Note
The creative challenge hiatus notwithstanding, this post was already scheduled for next week, so has been tweaked ever so slightly. And here it is now, since it seems to tie in rather well with the current weekly challenge. π

Your slideshow pics really are beautiful, if I was to single any one out, I’d say the dragonfly, because they are so difficult to capture, but seriously, I love them all π

Love Peanuts! π
There was a Calvin and Hobbes strip where Susie asked Calvin what he saw in the clouds. He said something along the lines of, “A bunch of suspended ice particles. Why do you ask?” She leaves in disgust and he said (smiling) how everyone hates a realist. Oh, clouds!
I see a comfortable place to nap!

Aw, that’s so typical for Calvin. π Calvin & Hobbes is a fave of mine, too.
And I think they do look soft and comfy, especially with the sun shining on them like that.

Mashed potatoes, took me a while to work out what they looked like. Maybe your mashed potatoes don’t look like that π
Never did understand Charlie Brown.

mashed potatoes? as in my mashed potatoes? you don’t want to know.
but since you mentioned it – i once had some plain yoghurt that was expiring soon, at least according to the date on the container. i had bought that yoghurt under duress one day when most stores were closed, but a corner grocery was open, and the yoghurt was
pricedoverpriced accordingly.so of course, i added it to the mashed potatoes, resulting in a ratio of about half potatoes, half yoghurt. i threw in some pesto seasoning for colour. and the result? it was completely unenjoyable. and so i ended up wasting that expensive yoghurt, and the potatoes too!
since then i have been making salads π

LOL!! Waste of pesto too I would have thought. Green mashed potatoes? You are right, you could well be culinarily challenged.
I wouldn’t have thought anyone could mess with mash, but either butter or extra virgin olive oil is a good start, not too much, garlic if you like it (I don’t in mash oddly as I like it everywhere else), and/or a tiny drop of milk/yogurt. But certainly not 1:1 π

Haha, I rather thought all of it was too much, but there was so much left, and the expiry date was looming around the corner, that almost against better judgement the lot of it was added. I was hoping the pesto could improve the end result – rather like trying to salvage a DT post with creative framing, although this was years before I ever considered blogging – and well, it did not.
However, and speaking of garlic (do you have a webcam on my kitchen?), this disaster did not prevent me from trying to improve, on another occasion, some rather bland soup (enough for a few servings) with a whole head of garlic. One clove actually was quite yummy. And a second was brilliant. And so I carried on and on…..
And since then I have added sandwiches to my salad repetoire. π
