betwixt and between

In between all the many chores that still need to be done over the next few days, I find myself reflecting on how often it is possible to be between places, events, people, and times. The now and the not yet, the soon and the far away, and the time that has just passed…. So much depends on that which lies between – this very moment, right now.

And beyond the time, there is the place. It is possible to be between a rock and a hard place… or between appointments, or between jobs. Or between vacations! Or to transition from one bliss to the next. Or to find yourself between here and there, and then trying to get there from here. And then there is always good old passim, here and there.

A new year lies around the corner. This leaves some room for making some new year’s resolutions. Have you made yours? I usually do not make any. But maybe I will change my mind between now and then. And as we approach 2012, here’s to some memorable Between’s!
