The sun shone gloriously, and the ocean, just meters away, roared.  The air was rich with the smell of salt. And the surf lunged shoreward, wave upon wave. It was wild and majestic, yet at the same time it was deliciously relaxing to be here once again, strolling along the beach, in the company of good friends, and with my camera at hand.

We were out walking on the sand, taking in the beauty around us, and from time to time we stopped to inspect treasures from the sea. I never seem to be the first one to see a limpet. Maybe next time…. However this bull kelp caught my eye – and my camera caught the moment.

And it was not until I looked at the image again later that I realized I had actually captured a self-portrait….. all while walking on the beach one day.

  10. Haha, I didn’t notice it at first either! I was asking myself “what has this got to do with self-portrait?”
But then I noticed. Good job!

    • thank you CG!
it certainly wasn’t intended as a self-portrait when originally captured. i have since tried to compose similar images intentionally, but so far none of them have turned out quite as well.
