The flower that follows the sun,
does so even in cloudy days.
~ Robert Leighton
During a vacation to the Oregon coast earlier this year, the skies remained grey throughout most of the time spent there. As posted previously (click to view), a happy accident resulted in a black & white image that turned out possibly better than it would have if the camera had been adjusted to a colour setting. Almost everything outside was simply a grey tone.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our time outdoors, walking along the sandy beach and exploring among the dunes, and we also snooped in the shops at Seaside. A great place to visit! Yet the sun remained hidden throughout most of our stay. Even during those few moments after our initial arrival when a few stray rays landed on the waves of the incoming tide and reflected some fleeting light, the skies remained grey. Did I mention the colour grey?
However, on the last day, shortly before it was time to leave, we were outside once more – for one last walk. My camera was in tow capturing the last few moments. The clouds began to break, and we almost saw some blue sky.
Almost.
Sometimes you just have to take it on faith that there is a blue sky above you behind all those grey clouds.
Blog Notes:
Q :: Oregon as in Oregon, USA? Weren’t recent posts of the Pacific west coast from Vancouver Island in BC, Canada?
A :: Those were two different journeys. The time spent in Oregon was just before summer began. The trip to Vancouver Island’s Pacific west coast was last week. And yes – vacations at the beach are always welcome, regardless of the time of year or the weather

i think it is even more dramatic without a blue sky, although some sunshine would not have been objectionable
